OR Consulting was tasked with creating a tailored environmental design that ensures the optimal storage conditions for each bottle , with individual temperature control for every case of wine and champagne.
The Wine Tower is a striking architectural feature housed within the main atrium restaurant of the Radisson Hotel in Zurich, combining performance art with wine storage in a unique fusion of elegance and excitement. The tower is designed to store over 2,000 bottles of wine and champagne, showcased in aerial acrylic cases and stacked vertically within a multi-storey structure.
A visually stunning single-glazed façade surrounds the Wine Tower’s core, where aerial gymnasts perform gravity-defying feats as they retrieve and deliver bottles ordered by guests.
OR Consulting was tasked with creating a tailored environmental design that ensures the optimal storage conditions for each bottle, with individual temperature control for every case of wine and champagne. This required maintaining a safe, stable temperature in the vertical performance zone while enabling aesthetic and functional flexibility.
We pioneered a ‘coolth’ reclaim strategy that successfully reduced the tower’s energy consumption by 50%, despite the tight spatial constraints. Additionally, OR Consulting designed a sophisticated system of small power, lighting, and fire alarm installations, ensuring both performance and safety in this dynamic, high-energy space.
