The Westborough Low Carbon Masterplan Projects was a winner of a CIBSE Building Performance Awards in 2015.
Phase 2 of the Westborough School refurbishment marked a groundbreaking leap in low-carbon engineering. This innovative project combined cutting-edge, low-energy solutions with the re-use of existing buildings, offering a cost-effective and sustainable approach to modernizing the school’s main teaching spaces.
Building on the success of Phase 1, our work in Phase 2 pushed even further to reduce carbon emissions and create a more flexible, energy-efficient environment for both students and teachers. The resulting teaching environment is a building that was dramatically improved and better aligned with the school’s long-term sustainability goals.
The project was well-received and featured in the RIBA Public Realm Directory, showcasing its success in marrying sustainability with functionality.
The project stands as a powerful example of how sustainable, low-carbon solutions can be applied to historic buildings, not only reducing environmental impact but also offering a flexible and efficient space for the education sector to thrive.
