Brentwood School Queens Building
- A new three-story extension designed to enhance the existing school infrastructure.
- The building includes seven classrooms and a specialized science lab.
OR Consulting acted as the building services designers, environmental engineers and acousticians for the low-carbon design of a three-story extension to upgrade facilities, featuring seven modern classrooms, a specialized science laboratory, a staff room, and new entrances.
OR Consulting designed and realised the project’s environmental strategy to include:
- The optimisation of the building’s structural timber frame construction across engineering disciplines to minimise the embodied carbon of the new building.
- The adoption of natural cooling and passive ventilation techniques, to reduce the building’s operational carbon performance.
- The optimisation of day lighting within the building, to reduce the building’s operational carbon performance.
- The sustainable acoustic design of the building to Building Bulletin 93.
- The use of air source heat pump technologies to heat the building, to reduce the building’s operational carbon performance.
- The utilisation of photovoltaic panels to generate renewable electrical energy.
