Delighted that St John’s Waterloo and The Africa Centre are winners of RIBA London Awards 2024.

OR Consulting acted as environmental engineers for the £5.5m masterplan redevelopment of St John’s Church in Waterloo which included creating new community, flexible office, meeting, commercial kitchen and spiritual spaces.

Our design strived to be sensitive to the architectural and conservation goals of the project, whilst providing an energy efficient solution. The project included steps to move St John’s towards the Church of England’s target of net-zero carbon emissions by 2030.

OR Consulting acted as building services and environmental designers for the redevelopment of the Gunpowder House office building, to create a new home for the Africa Centre.

OR Consulting also worked together with Freehaus to realise the Client’s vision for the building whilst minimising the embodied carbon content of the project by the adapting and re-using the existing building’s fabric and specifying recycled material and products with a high recycled content and a low embodied carbon rating.
