Low carbon refurbishment specialists OR Consulting have completed the design for the refurbishment of the Priory Museum, a grade 1 listed building and the design of a new, low carbon Visitors Centre.
The refurbishment project has addressed design issues such as:
- The monitoring and analysis of internal conditions within the Priory.
- The development of a conservation heating strategy for the listed building.
- The replacement of all building services systems within the listed building.
- The employment of de-stratification techniques to optimise the movement of heat throughout the listed building.
- The installation of new electrical infrastructure.
- The installation of lifts to improve accessibility.
- The design of a new fire alarm strategy to provide early warning of a fire within this un-compartmentalised historic listed building and facilitate safe evacuation.
- The design of the systems required to serve the new exhibition installation.
- The passive environmental design of the New Visitors Centre.
- The external lighting of access routes within the Priory grounds.
- The re-configuration of the external site services.
