New School Performance Building
Building Services and Low Carbon Consultants, OR Consulting, have completed the design of a new school performance building.
OR Consulting worked alongside the design team to develop a flexible building design, incorporating a 200 seat theatre / drama studio, classrooms and a dance studio.
The Client’s brief called for all the spaces to be suitable for teaching, school productions / events and private hire by commercial organizations and touring theatre companies.
The project’s environmental strategy includes measures such as:
- The optimisation of the building fabric’s passive performance.
- The adoption of natural ventilation, mixed mode ventilation and passive cooling techniques, with displacement ventilation to the serve the drama studio in performance mode.
- The installation of energy efficient light fittings and controls.
- The design of building systems to mitigate the utility capacity issues.
- Integration of services installations with the performance systems.
- The sub-metering of energy consumption.
- The adoption of water efficient technologies.
