Chinese Overseas Christian Mission Project
Chinese Overseas Christian Mission
The Chinese Overseas Christian Mission Project was a £3.5M mixed-use development for a charitable organisation.
Spaces within the building include: a central atrium, offices, a library, commercial kitchens, student, seminar rooms, and residential accommodation.
Low Energy Design
The building form and orientation were designed to optimise its passive environmental performance. The building is predominantly naturally ventilated and designed to optimise natural day lighting.
The thermally high performance façade was clad with cedar from a renewable source.
Acoustic Design
With many areas (reception, the library and dining area) housed within the atrium space, the acoustic design of the space was important. Acoustic absorbers were employed to optimise the reverberation within the space and provide an element of acoustic privacy.
Project completed by Peter Roberts as lead designer for Buro Happold Consulting Engineers.
