The Belgrade Theatre Project involved the fit-out design of the B2 Auditorium. OR Consulting Engineers were tasked with establishing the performance of the base build air conditioning installation and identifying measures to enhance its performance.
OR Consulting Engineers undertook a design study to:
- Establish the brief to which the base build systems had been designed.
- Investigate the condition and performance of the existing air conditioning installation.
- Establish an enhanced brief to which the Client aspired.
From this study, OR Consulting Engineers developed an enhanced air distribution strategy which:
- Employed fabric ductwork to deliver low velocity air directly to balconies within the space.
- Maintained comfort conditions within the occupied zones.
- Allowed air temperatures within the auditorium to stratisfy and rise to the unoccupied zones above.
This enhanced strategy allowed the delivery of cool air to be focused within the occupied zones, where it was needed. This approach increased the maximum occupancy within the auditorium from 230 to 300 people, without increasing the cooling capacity of the plant.
